The city of Seattle has been licking its wounds since 2008, as that is when the the city's beloved SuperSonics left the city and took professional basketball out of the state of Washington. However, with the renovation of Climate Pledge Arena and the success of the NHL's expansion Seattle Kraken, the city is poised for the return of an NBA franchise. If and when that day comes. veteran NBA guard Isaiah Thomas wants to be a part of the team's ownership/management group.

Thomas played with the Lakers, Mavericks and Hornets this season, but he was limited to 22 games between the three teams. He didn't join the league until the SuperSonics had left the state of Washington and moved to Oklahoma City, but he has an affinity for the city because he was born in Tacoma Washington.

Seattle sports fans are known for their loud and consistent support of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and the NHL's Kraken. The Mariners have been the city's American League baseball team since 1977, and fans have been known to roar their support for that team that has featured superstars like Ken Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson, Edgar Martinez and Ichiro Suzuki.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said the NBA will entertain expansion once the league secures its next media rights package.

The media rights package is likely to be finalized in 2024, and then the issue of expansion will be front and center. Silver has not endorsed any city yet, but he has mentioned previously that Seattle is at the top of the list.

If and when the day comes that Seattle rejoins the league, Isaiah Thomas would like to be a part of the ownership group.
