The Philadelphia Phillies' season came to a close during Game 7 of the NLCS at the hands of Torey Lovullo and the Arizona Diamondbacks. It was supposed to be their ticket etched in destiny to meet the Texas Rangers in the World Series, but unfortunately, it will have to wait until next season returns. This loss stung the whole city, especially those who were there to see the live demolition at Citizens Bank Park. The players were the most and no one was left shocked when the game was called over more than Bryce Harper.

The right fielder for the Phillies did not mince words in expressing his disappointment after their NLCS loss to the Diamondbacks, via John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

“I know they’re hurting. We are too. But we will be back. It just devastates me. I let the city down. I need to come through in that moment,” were the bold collection of words that Bryce Harper dropped after they had lost with a two-to-four scoreline.

He also claimed to have missed a fastball which could have potentially swung the momentum in their favor.

Torey Lovullo just had the right combination of players inside to pull off the generational upset against Harper's squad. He had unexpected choices. Examples were giving Kevin Ginkel his chance to shine. Along with Corbin Carroll, he torched the Phillies as the game neared its conclusion. Lovullo's call would pay off. Ginkel notched three massive strikeouts that left Philadelphia fighting to stay in World Series contention. Unfortunately for Harper and the Phillies, nothing was working in the last innings of the match. They just had to let go and face the disappointment.
