Jadon Sancho is not going to Manchester United — at least not yet. Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc plans to have the talented midfielder wearing black and yellow next season, a decision he deemed “final” on Monday.

“We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final,” said Zorc in a press conference after Sancho took on training camp activities with the club. “I think that answers all our questions.”

Borussia Dortmund had previously indicated they wanted a deal completed by Aug. 10, time for which they would head out to Switzerland for a camp and give them enough time to sign a replacement for the winger. Zorc, however, is standing firm that Sancho will remain with the club for the 2020-21 season.

However, Zorc is no stranger to such proclamations. In 2017, he noted there was “no way” their striker Ousmane Dembele would go anywhere. He was sold two months after.

This could all be part of the expected posturing by the German side, as Manchester United has yet to reach the expected price tag €120 for Jadon Sancho.

Sancho is Manchester United's No. 1 target and likely a catalyst for the club's offseason. While there's still plenty of time left to complete the transfer, some within the club have expressed willingness to get the deal done quickly to get Jadon Sancho into training as soon as possible, while there have been others debunking it, noting the Red Devils are in no such rush.

Manchester United could fear negotiations lingering for too long and costing the club some precious time to get Sancho acclimated to his Premier League teammates.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol summed it up best:

“Dortmund are talking tough, saying he is their player and they're planning a future with him. But if United do meet the asking price, I'm sure Dortmund would accept it,” he said in a recent TV appearance. “It's a really interesting development and it just shows that this saga is going to go on and on.

“We've got a player who is valued at €120 million, Man United are trying to get him for less than that, but Dortmund are well within their rights to say he's going nowhere unless they have that valuation met. Zorc is saying it's finished, Sancho is staying, but I wouldn't believe 100% what he's saying.

It looks like the Jadon Sancho saga could drag on unless Manchester United is willing to put their money where their mouth is. While there's the fear of overpaying in valuation, there's also the risk of coming to a stalemate, which would greatly defeat United's hopes for next season.
