The Utah Jazz recently struck out on securing the services of Gordon Hayward, and the team immediately went on to prepare an aggressive pursuit of Otto Porter Jr., per ESPN's Tim McMahon.

However, the do-it-all forward recently came to terms on a deal with the Brooklyn Nets for four years and $106 million. This was a quick monkey wrench thrown at the Jazz's plans.

Porter is a restricted free agent which means he's not yet a lock to don the Nets' black next season, as the Washington Wizards could still match the offer and automatically retain his services. It'd be hard to imagine the Wizards letting him walk away just like that after developing an excellent flow with the team last season, forming one of the deadlier starting fives in the NBA.

The 24-year-old Georgetown product has emerged as one of the better two-way players in the league today. He is coming off his best season as a pro with averages of 13.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

He would have been a great addition to the Jazz with his knack for defense and hustle plays, but it's now time to move on to other options.
