Ex-NBA point guard Jeremy Lin recently revealed in a disturbing Facebook post that he experienced racial attacks while playing in the NBA G-League bubble in Orlando, Florida. The post focused on raising awareness for Asian-American discrimination in the United States.

Lin, who currently plays for the Golden State Warriors G-League counterpart, the Santa Cruz Warriors, doubled down on the issue in a lengthy Twitter statement to continue the fight against racism. Lin still refused to name names, but nevertheless, urged people to have a little more empathy, “listen to the voices” and “hear other stories” as he issued his statement of hope for a better tomorrow.

The NBA has reportedly launched an investigation to look into Lin's revelation that he had been called “coronavirus” on the court.

The Taiwanese-American rose to prominence during the 2011-12 season, as the sensation of Linsanity swept through the entire NBA. Since then, Jeremy Lin has used his platform in raising awareness on what he and his fellow Asian Americans experience on the daily.

Hate crimes on Asian Americans have reportedly gone up over the past year, more prominently in the Bay Area and in New York. Disgusting videos of these people attacking unknowing Asian Americans, mostly the elderly, have popped up all over social media.

Lin appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area and spoke about these disturbing acts of violence towards his fellow Asian Americans. The recent happenings has further urged Lin to continue the fight on eradicating racism. He stressed the need for people to truly unite — not just Asian Americans fighting for each other or African Americans standing up for fellow African Americans, but rather everyone acting and fighting in solidarity, regardless of background or color, to truly achieve a racism-free world.
