It was revealed last week that there is a 14-year-old basketball player that shares the same name with Brooklyn Nets guard Jeremy Lin

This has finally caught the attention of the 28-year-old, who tweeted out on Thursday his excitement about there being a young basketball prospect that holds the same name as him.

On top of that, Lin also posted a throwback photo of him competing in the Summer League back in 2010 as a member of the Dallas Mavericks.

Lin's path to the NBA is well documented as he found himself fighting to stay on an NBA roster through his first few years. This all culminated by the chance he earned with the New York Knicks that launched him into the spotlight. Since then, he has played with several NBA teams in prominent roles.
Meanwhile, the 14-year-old initially made airwaves after a highlight video on Ballislife that displayed him showcasing his skills at the 2017 Ballislife Jr. All-American Camp that was hosted by Adidas Hoop. Lin's performance in that game helped him earn him an invite to the showcase's top-25 game due to his “range and his passing abilities.”

It's not often that a person sharing the same name as an NBA player, let alone a professional athlete, is able to make a name for themselves. The most recent instance is Boston Celtics All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas, who has become one of the most dynamic scorers in the NBA.

Although the 14-year-old is still a long way from becoming an NBA player, he is certainly on the right track as he's beginning to garner national attention for his play on the court.
