The New Y0rk Jets think they got their quarterback of the future with the third pick drafting Sam Darnold of USC. When a quarterback is drafted that high there is a ton of pressure on you, especially when you play in New York and have to deal with that media.

That being said, head coach Todd Bowles told Calvin Watkins of Newsday, they aren't going to rush him into playing.

ā€œWeā€™re not going to throw him in there but at the same time were not going to hold him back either ā€¦ā€

For the Jets they don't have to rush him into playing which is a very good situation. They have Josh McCown on their team and he is expected to be the starter. They also have Teddy Bridgewater who was on his way to being a really good NFL quarterback before his devastatingĀ knee injury.

When Darnold does make his first start with the Jets, he will have all the making of a star and could change the shape of the AFC East and bring the Jets back to relevance.Ā He was the number one player on many draft boards and many believe he will be the best quarterback out of this class.

He had a 20-4 record as a starter at USC including a huge win in the 2017Ā Rose Bowl when he led a huge comeback against the Penn State Nittany Lions.

The one knock on Darnold is his turnovers and is something that is going to need to be cleaned up before he starts in the NFL.
