The Chicago Bulls suspended their starting point guard, Rajon Rondo, for their game on Monday night against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Bulls ultimately fell in that contest, 112-110.

The team did not expound on the reason for the disciplinary action on the 30-year-old Kentucky product but cited conduct detrimental to the team. It is believed it was a verbal tussle with one of the team's assistant coaches that led to his suspension.

Despite being reprimanded by the Bulls, his teammate have spoken publicly of their support for Rondo. Jimmy Butler had only kind words for Rondo after the incident, per Chris Kue and K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune:

“This is just another bump in the road. He's a phenomenal damn teammate and I back him on everything.

“These things happen, and when things happen, you handle it the way you're supposed to handle it. I think we all love Rondo. I know I do. He's been a great mentor to me (and) he's made me a much better player.”

This is not the first time Rondo has been given disciplinary action by his own team. Rondo was suspended last season by the Sacramento Kings and two seasons ago when he was still playing for the Dallas Mavericks.

The Chicago faithful are hoping this will be the last time Rondo receives a suspension from the team or the NBA as he is a vital piece to their success, and as Butler said, someone who has made him a better player.
