Washington Wizards All-Star point guard John Wall is coming off arguably the best individual season of his NBA career, however, he isn't satisfied.

During a recent interview on the HoopHype podcast with Alex Kennedy, Wall still believes that he deserves more national recognition while being overlooked on his selection on the All-NBA Third Team.

“I feel like I’ve lived up to the hype, and I’m getting better and better. I still don’t think I get the recognition I deserve. I think I got a little more this year, but people are still kind of debating what John Wall is all about. I’m an all-around point guard. You want to know [what motivates me]? I made the All-NBA Third Team. I mean, a guy averaging 23 points, 11 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals and that’s All-NBA Third Team? I know there are a lot of great players in this league, a lot of great guards, but [only making] the All-NBA Third Team was pretty shocking to me. I just use all of that as motivation and fuel.”

The level that Wall performed last year was certainly more than noteworthy as he became the first player in NBA history to average at least 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. He was also the only player this past season average at least 20.0 points, 10.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals.

Wall also joined Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul to post those numbers up in a single season. On top of that, he proved to be a large reason for the Wizards finishing with a 49-33 record, which was the fourth-best mark in the Eastern Conference.

Given all of these accolades from last season, Wall was deserving of an All-NBA team nod, but there just happened to be four other backcourt players in Westbrook, James Harden, Stephen Curry and Isaiah Thomas that all put together seasons that were the best campaigns of their respective careers, outside of Curry, who was no slouch either averaging 25.3 points and 6.6 assists per game following back-to-back MVP seasons.

That said, this added motivation could lead to another stellar season for Wall that could topple his play this past year.
