The New Orleans Pelicans are nearing a return to normalcy as starting point guard Jrue Holiday is set to return to the court on Friday when they host the Portland Trail Blazers, GM Dell Demps told ESPN's Justin Verrier.

Holiday has been absent from the team for the last couple months to tend to his ailing wife, former USWNT player Lauren Holiday, who was dealing with a brain tumor and the birth of a baby girl.

The 6-foot-3 UCLA product will likely need a few games before he takes over Tim Frazier‘s borrowed starting gig, but he is said to be fully healthy and in shape.

Holiday will not travel with the team for the game against the Orlando Magic, but he will have a full practice on Thursday in preparation to Friday's game.

The 26-year-old point guard averaged 16.8 points, 6.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.3 three-pointers, and 1.4 steals last season.

Demps also said forward Tyreke Evans has returned to non-contact activity at Pelicans practice. The plan will be a gradual return for him, since he's suffered multiple knee injuries in his career, the organization will declare a timetable based on his progress.
