DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews are likely to be bought out by the New York Knicks, according to Bobby Marks of ESPN.

DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews are both on expiring contracts. Jordan is making $22,897,200 this season, while Matthews is making $18,622,513.

DeAndre Jordan signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks last summer after spending the first 10 years of his career with the Los Angeles Clippers. The high-flyer is averaging 11.0 points and 13.7 rebounds per game this season while shooting 64.4 percent from the field and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Wesley Matthews, meanwhile, is putting up 13.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists on the season and shooting 41.4 percent from the floor, 38.0 percent from the 3-point line and 79.1 percent from the foul line.

The Knicks are one of the worst teams in the NBA. DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews are veterans who are trying to play in the postseason. Both players and the franchise are better off parting ways from each other.

The Mavs have been trying to trade Matthews for a few years now. They were finally able to and acquire Kristaps Porzingis from the Knicks. Jordan was solid in the 50 games he played with Dallas, but when you have a chance to land a star player like Porzingis, you have to do whatever it takes to get him.
