Knicks veteran point guard Derrick Rose reveals a harsh reality he's facing after avoiding a devastating ankle injury earlier today, during the Knicks’ 117-99 preseason win over the Wizards.

NBA fans are very familiar with Rose's unfortunate injuries throughout his career. In the past, talks on a possible retirement surfaced; however, the former MVP's return to New York served him well, providing leadership to a young and hungry team.

After tweaking his ankle, Rose eventually left the game to enter the locker room with one minute remaining in the fourth quarter. The Chicago-native ended the game with decent numbers, scoring 15 points in 19 minutes.

“It’s nothing serious at all, but if I kept playing I probably would’ve made it worse,’’ Rose said. “I think I probably did it myself. It’s the second game — all this is new, moving around, Thibs training camps are different. I just have to take my time. I’m getting older. I tweaked it but didn’t twist it all the way. Thibs understood [when I took myself out].’’

Together with having a significant role, Knicks fans are expected to pay attention to Rose's overall health throughout the season. However, it seems that today's tweak is nothing to worry about.

Given Rose's age, it's just his reality to take the necessary precautions.
