The New York Knicks and Boston Celtics run it back on Saturday night, this time at the TD Garden in Boston following their thriller on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden. Knicks guard Kemba Walker has missed four games in a row due to a bothersome knee. With that said, it might be worth asking: Is Kemba Walker playing vs. the Celtics?

Is Kemba Walker playing vs. Celtics

To answer the question straightforwardly, no. Kemba Walker won't get the chance to suit up when he makes his second return to Boston. The Knicks ruled out Walker early ahead of Saturday's contest as he continues to suffer from right knee soreness. This will mark his fifth game in a row on the sidelines.

This is honestly such a bummer since Walker was having an incredible stretch through the final two weeks of December. Prior to his torrid run, the 31-year old was removed from the regular rotation by head coach Tom Thibodeau. Thibs gave him 10 consecutive DNPs.

But with the Knicks down multiple bodies due to COVID, the 2-time Coach of the Year had no choice but to reinsert Walker into the rotation. With a new chance, Walker took advantage and showed why he is a 4-time All-Star. In his first game back, Walker immediately dropped 29 points. Two games after, he erupted for a season-high 44 points. And on Christmas Day, Walker posted a triple-double, going for 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. In the process, the New York native made history as well, becoming the first Knick ever to record a trip-dub on Christmas.

Without Walker, the Knicks should continue to roll with Alec Burks and Immanuel Quickley. It remains to be seen if Walker will rejoin the rotation when he returns. But with his injury history especially on his knee, there's no definite timeline on when that could be.
