JJ Redick has been circulating the news cycle lately as rumors are he could be in the mix for the Los Angeles Lakers head coaching job. We'll see how it plays out though, as LA is seemingly going after UConn coach, Dan Hurley. However, it sounds like Redick has some support within the NBA to be a coach one day, as New York Knicks star, Joh Hart weighs in.

During a segment on The Roommates Show, featuring Hart, Jalen Brunson, and Matt Hillman, Josh Hart explained that he believes Redick will be a good head coach in the NBA one day. The Knicks star even predicts that JJ Redick will have a coaching job “in the next couple of years.”

“He would be an amazing X's and O's coach… put guys in the right position… he will for sure be a coach in the next couple of years.”

JJ Redick's basketball IQ cannot be denied. He's been a smart player throughout his career and fully understands the game of basketball. Especially at the NBA level where he played 15 seasons. You can hear his basketball knowledge anytime he's on a podcast or making an appearance on ESPN's First Take.

Besides, we've seen plenty of former players become coaches over the years. So, if JJ Redick is interested then he should be able to be hired as a coach at some point. For that reason, it's hard to argue against Josh Hart's opinion, as the Knicks guard fully believes in Redick's coaching abilities.

Redick finished his career averaging 12.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. He was known as a three-point threat who had a knack of getting open. His style of play could translate well as a coach, as the NBA is all about the three-pointers these days.

Knicks 2024 offseason outlook

The Knicks are facing a pivotal offseason yet again after being eliminated in this year's playoffs. New York looked solid throughout most of the season with Jalen Brunson leading the way. However, injuries plagued the roster and cut their championship hopes short.

It was awesome to see the Knicks act aggressively this season. The front office made some big trades ahead of the deadline and it noticeably improved the team. But now the franchise must find a way to continue building around Brunson to give themselves a shot at making a deep run in next year's NBA Playoffs.

Considering it's the Knicks we should expect them to be in the mix for a big-name free agent. Who that will be is yet to be determined. But New York is in a fantastic position to make some splash moves this offseason. If the front office can reel in the right guys, then this team will be one to watch in the 2024-25 season.
