Retired NBA big man Kendrick Perkins says “it could be special” if Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant teamed up on the New York Knicks next season.

Both Irving and Durant will become unrestricted free agents this summer. The two superstars have been heavily linked to signing with the Knicks together and Perkins can only imagine how fun the Knicks would be if Uncle Drew and KD were in The Big Apple:

The Knicks have cap space this summer to sign Irving and Durant. New York could also end up with the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Knicks had the worst record in the NBA this season.

Before the 2018-19 season started, Irving said he was going to re-sign with the Boston Celtics. Later in the season, however, Irving changed his tune and said he doesn't owe anybody anything. If the Celtics don't make it to the NBA Finals this year, Irving could look to leave Boston.

Durant, meanwhile, is well on his way to winning his third-straight NBA title since joining the Golden State Warriors back in 2016. Many believe Durant needs to leave the Warriors and win big somewhere else to clean up his legacy, and there's no better place to do that than in New York. The Knicks haven't won a championship since 1973.
