New York Knicks rookie forward Kevin Knox put on a career night on Sunday against the Charlotte Hornets, scoring 26 points and hauling in 15 rebounds in a loss, becoming only the second player in league history to put up a 25-15 line before his 20th birthday — the only other?

LeBron James.

Knox also became the first Knicks player to post such stat line since Patrick Ewing did during the 1985-86 season, per Justin Kubatko of StatMuse, an inspiring sign for those who doubted the rookie's ability amid his early-season struggles.

James and Ewing are two of the game's most notable icons in their own respective ways, and Knox putting his name among them is surely reflective of his potential as a young player.

The Kentucky product has struggled to find his footing early on with the Knicks, tinkering with his ill-advised shot selection and fine-tuning his best moves in hopes to be more effective.

Knox's complete package should become more evident as the game slows down for him and enables him to take advantage of his full repertoire. He's still tapping into building his NBA body and adjusting to a completely different level of competition, which has proven to be an adjustment period for most rookies in the league.

Luckily, the Knicks have plenty of time available for him in this rebuilding season, as they hope to develop him and see more performances of this caliber before team cornerstone Kristaps Porzingis returns from injury.

New York's future is looking very bright with Knox beginning to find his way.
