Leon Rose is reportedly going to take over as president of basketball operations of the New York Knicks on Sunday after rapping up some last minute things over at the CAA agency.

According to Ian Begley of SNY, Rose is going to take his time putting together New York's new front office which will be under his watch:

Several people briefed on the matter said Rose will take some time to evaluate the existing Knicks staff before making any decisions on who to keep and who to let go from the current regime.

Knicks owner James Dolan began exploring the front-office model of hiring a player agent shortly after reassigning Steve Mills. The Golden State Warriors under Bob Myers and Los Angeles Lakers under Rob Pelinka have had success with the former agent model.

The Knicks’ roster is pretty flawed right now, so Rose’s main priority moving forward is to hire the right coach to lead the franchise if he decides not to give Mike Miller the full-time gig and get more talent. Rose reportedly will have Jeff Van Gundy and Tom Thibodeau on his coaching search list.

The Knicks are hoping Rose's litany of connections in the NBA will help the team improve from top to bottom. The Knickerbockers have been a walking disaster for years. The 2012-13 season was the last time the Knicks had a winning record and made the playoffs.

Many people in New York thought Phil Jackson was going to be the one who saved the Knicks, but he was a disaster in his short time in The Big Apple.

Like Jackson, Rose appears to have the credentials to fix the Knicks. Only time will tell if he'll be successful in his quest.
