The New York Knicks will reportedly field in a trio of sophomores in the 2019 Las Vegas NBA Summer League. According to Tommy Beer of NBC, Mitchell Robinson, Kevin Knox, and Allonzo Trier are all expected to suit up for the Knicks as they begin their off-season of hope.

According to Beer, Robinson intends to suit up for at “least two games,” while Knox and Trier have yet to determine how many games they will play.

Nonetheless, this is a good starting point for the Knicks to develop their young and promising prospects as they look to take a significant step forward next season.

Kevin Knox was New York's prized lottery selection last year, going 9th in the 2018 draft. Knox struggled mightily with his shot in his first NBA season. He averaged just 12.8 points on the year and shot an abysmal 37.0 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from long-distance.

The Knicks selected Mitchell Robinson with the 36th overall pick last season. His surprisingly impressive rookie campaign, especially on the defensive end, earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Second team this past season. The 21-year old finished second behind Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner in blocks per game with 2.4 rejections per contest. He had a total of 161 swats on the season, good for fourth among the league leaders.

Allonzo Trier went undrafted but eventually found a home in New York, where he initially signed a two-way contract with the team. Trier eventually earned a spot in the rotation, averaging 10.9 points on 44.8 percent shooting in 22.8 minutes per game off the bench. He also made history by becoming the first player under a two-way deal to sign a standard NBA contract within the first two months of the season.

The Knicks have a trio of promising prospects at their hands. They should take advantage of this opportunity to develop their games by giving them as many reps as possible – and Summer League is a good stage to start.
