A concerned New York Knicks fan in Democratic congressman Max Rose previously told TMZ that he wished owner James Dolan would choose to sell the team. The billionaire businessman responded by donating $50,000 through MSG Sports to a political action committee devoted to electing House Republicans.

Dolan also told the New York Post that Rose had politicized the franchise and his donation was indicative that he planned to fund more Republicans in New York. Rose fired back at the Knicks owner once again and insisted that he already saw the response coming:

“No, man,” the politician told Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic. “Again, the guy is a snowflake. He kicks fans out of the arena. Look what he did to Oakley and Charles Oakley is a legend. I’m just a congressman. Nothing would surprise me.”

Rose wasn't done going after the Knicks owner:

“What I will tell you is I’m not going to let Jim Dolan bully me. I’ve got swamp creatures in D.C. coming after me. I’m not worried about this guy. Come at me, bro. Come at me. But you’re going to lose. Which is, by the way, something that he’s very much accustomed to. So I’m sure this won’t be cataclysmic for him; it’ll just be another loss in a long series of losses. He’s a loser. He’s got to shut up and sell the team.”

The Knicks have been on a mostly downward spiral ever since Dolan acquired the team back in 1999. Since making the NBA Finals in '99, New York has only made the playoffs six times. The last playoff appearance was in 2013.

Coincidentally, the last game that Max Rose attended at Madison Square was on the night Knicks legend Charles Oakley was banned from the stadium following an altercation with MSG security back in 2017.

Heading into next season, Dolan sought to steer the franchise to a change of scenery as he hired former sports agent Leon Rose to be the Knicks' new president and hired veteran NBA head coach Tom Thibodeau to lead the team from the sidelines.

We'll see if the Knicks will turn things around and reignite Rose's fandom.
