The New York Knicks are adding another young player to the already youthful roster. According to the Knicks Public Relations, the team has signed Vonleh to an undisclosed contract.

Vonleh turns 23-years of age in August. The former lottery pick has spent four seasons with three teams during his NBA career. His most successful stint came during a 21-game stretch with the Chicago Bulls during the 2017-18 season. Vonleh averaged 6.9 points and 6.9 rebounds with the Bulls.

For his career, Vonleh has per game averages of 4.1 points and 4.7 rebounds. He has yet to live up to his status as a top-10 draft pick, but he's still a very young player.

Without their franchise cornerstone, Kristaps Porzingis, the Knicks should be one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. Vonleh will likely see decent minutes considering the frontcourt is wide open.

Enes Kanter is a lock to start at center, but after that the rotation is unclear. Kevin Knox and Mario Hezonja will play some stretch four. Mitchell Robinson showed upside in Las Vegas, but he might be too raw to garner consistent minutes. Two-way players, Luke Kornet and Isaiah Hicks, have yet to solidify spots in the rotation. And no one has any idea what's going on with Joakim Noah.

In other words, Vonleh has an opportunity to prove his worth and garner consistent minutes.

Vonleh is yet another example of the Knicks taking a flyer on a talented player. As Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic states, the Knicks now have an NBA-high nine lottery picks on the roster. They're taking chances on talent and hoping something sticks.
