A lot of people laughed at the New York Knicks after they missed out on the No.1 overall pick and Zion Williamson during the 2019 NBA Draft. They ended up picking RJ Barrett at third, but that could now be said as a blessing in disguise.

After all, on Sunday against the Boston Celtics, Barrett helped his Knicks secure a Top-4 finish with 22 points, four rebounds and two assists. It was only another page of what has been a brilliant 2020-21 season that saw him improve in all areas of his game.

Following their victory against the Celtics, the Knicks youngster reflected on his promise to help the team that would draft him get to the playoffs. He also emphasized how he has always believed he is a winner and can impact winning in a variety of ways–which he undoubtedly proved this campaign.

“This is something I envisioned; this is something I wanted to do,” Barrett said, per Ian Begley of SNY.TV. “I've always said I'm a winner.”

For what it's worth, Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans are yet to make the postseason after they were eliminated once again this year. On the other hand, Ja Morant–the 2019 second overall  pick–and the Memphis Grizzlies will be heading to another play-in to determine if they'll be able to make the playoffs or not.

With that said, only RJ Barrett has been able to make the postseason so far among the Top-3 picks of the 2019 class.

While a lot of credit for the Knicks' success should go to Julius Randle and Coach Tom Thibodeau, there is no doubt that RJB is just as crucial being the team's second-best player.
