The New York Knicks might've fallen to the Miami Heat on Friday night at Madison Square Garden, but third-year guard RJ Barrett had the game of his life, erupting for 46 points. In the process, the Canadian made franchise history, becoming only the second player ever to score 40+ at the age of 21-year-old or younger.

Via Marc Spears:

Carl Braun played for the Knicks way back in the 40's, 50's, and 60's, so that's why the name isn't exactly familiar to most basketball fans. Nevertheless, it's quite the accomplishment for Barrett, who set a career-high. The 21-year-old came out red-hot in the first half, dropping 30 by halftime. While he did slow down in the final two periods, Barrett could've even had more. The youngster shot just 14 for 22 from the charity stripe.

Although Barrett was brilliant, there was a glaring lack of help. Julius Randle collected a mere 11 points, while Evan Fournier also had only 13. It was the Knicks' fourth-straight loss and dropped them 25-35 on the year, which has them outside of the play-in picture at the moment.

It won't get any easier for New York, either. They face the Philadelphia 76ers in back-to-back games then take a trip out West to face the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers. Let's hope RJ Barrett can show out during these tough matchups and actually have some support around him this time.
