The New York Knicks will have Trey Burke and Lance Thomas back in action Sunday against the Indiana Pacers, the Knicks announced.
Burke has only played a single minute in December thanks to a knee injury he suffered on the first of the month against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Prior to the injury, the 26-year-old point guard had been playing well, averaging 12.0 points and 3.0 assists in 20.7 minutes per game. He's shooting 42.2 percent overall and 36.1 percent from 3-land.
It will be interesting to see what kind of role Burke plays upon his return. Emmanuel Mudiay has been playing great and is coming off a 34-point performance against the Charlotte Hornets, while Frank Ntilikina has returned to the rotation after a few DNP-CDs. Ntilikina is dealing with an ankle injury, but he's available against Indiana.
Thomas hasn't played since Nov. 5 against the Chicago Bulls. The 30-year-old forward underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee several days later.
Thomas is the longest-tenured Knick after coming to New York during the 2014-15 season. The 6-foot-8 forward is averaging 3.9 points and 2.2 rebounds in 15.2 minutes per game this season.
Both Burke and Thomas began the season as starters before Knicks head coach David Fizdale shook things up after five games.
While New York is getting these players back, Damyean Dotson (shoulder), Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and Allonzo Trier (hamstring) are all out Sunday.
