The New York Knicks could land a potential star this offseason by means of the NBA Draft, sporting an equal 14-percent chance to muster the No. 1 overall pick along with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns. However, there isn't a clear consensus that the franchise would be willing to trade their top selection for New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis.

According to ESPN's Ian Begley, the Knicks haven't darted that possibility as a must for Davis.

“If the Knicks luck out and land Williamson in the draft, a package centered around him and other first-round picks or young Knicks — such as Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson or Allonzo Trier — might be enticing to the Pelicans. Even if the Knicks don't trade their first-round draft pick — and there is no consensus that the organization would definitely trade its 2019 No. 1 pick in a package for Davis, sources said — the Knicks would need to find a way to surround any incoming stars with other veterans.”

Trading Zion Williamson, the consensus No. 1 selection in the draft, would be letting go of a generational talent — one that could develop into a Davis-caliber player down the road with the right stars and veterans around him.

Nevertheless, if the Knicks are willing to ship that talent for immediate results, it would certainly compete with a package from the Boston Celtics, which would potentially include second-year forward Jayson Tatum, along with other quality assets in their roster like Terry Rozier, Jaylen Brown and several draft picks.
