NBA agent BJ Armstrong, who is mostly known for representing former MVP Derrick Rose, says he's “starting to hear” the New York Knicks are in the fold to sign superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard this summer.

Leonard becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason once he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Toronto Raptors. The Knicks have cap space to sign two max contract players:

It has already been a tough offseason for the Knicks. First, they didn't get lucky at the lottery, ending any chance of getting Zion Williamson in The Big Apple. Anthony Davis was then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Knicks were reportedly trying to land Davis.

Kevin Durant tore his right Achilles in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Durant has been heavily linked to signing with the Knicks this offseason. While KD is expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season, New York will likely still offer him a max contract this offseason since it is desperate for star power. Kyrie Irving, however, might take his talents to the Brooklyn Nets instead.

If the Knicks are somehow able to sign Leonard, New Yorkers might just throw a parade. The franchise has been a walking disaster for years under the ownership of James Dolan. Leonard, who just won his second Finals MVP, has been rumored to either re-sign with the Raptors or head back home to California and sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.
