Stephen A. Smith is known for having some pretty outrageous takes at times. He's also been known over the years as a fan of the New York Knicks who constantly waffles with how invested he wants to be with the franchise year in and year out.

After a 41-31 season that landed the Knicks back in the postseason, trade rumors have popped up early and often this offseason for New York. The biggest of the names that have been in the rumor mill is undoubtedly Blazers superstar Damian Lillard.

Monday on his show ā€œFirst Take,ā€ Stephen A. Smith proposed an outrageous deal for the Knicks to land Lillard.

So, to recap, Stephen A. Smith would trade Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Mitchell Robinson, Obi Toppin and three first-round picks for Lillard. Of course, there is likely a pinch of sarcasm sprinkled in here by the ESPN host (let's hope) but the point remains that a lot of Knicks fans don't want to give up everything for Lillard and most believe this proposal is banana land.

The responses were much of what was expected, with Knicks fans bashing the idea and the thought of trading all that just for one player.

New York will have plenty of decisions to make this offseason including how to go about potentially making a trade for Lillard if he requests one from Portland. So far, that hasn't been the case this offseason but also hasn't been ruled out.

The Knicks are ahead of plans and with plenty of cap space to work with, they should be able to make a couple of splashes this summer if that's the route they want to go.
