Dennis Smith Jr. of the New York Knicks returned to the team after missing the past few games due to a death in the family. It turned out to be a fairly important game, as the Knicks faced off against the Dallas Mavericks – DSJ’s former team – the current home of hated former Knick Kristaps Porzingis.

Smith Jr. played well throughout the contest, and he even produced this sparkling put back dunk in the third quarter – as the entire Mavericks team milled around:

DSJ finished the game with 13 points, eight assists and six rebounds, but perhaps most importantly, the Knicks managed to gut out a win in the fourth quarter.

Marcus Morris hit a dagger three, and then Frank Ntilikina came through with two clutch free throws to ice it. The Knicks only have three wins this season, but two of them are against the despised Mavericks. That’s got to count for something, right?
