New York Knicks big fan Spike Lee did not hide his excitement when his favorite team selected RJ Barrett in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Lee was caught in a video applauding and exchanging high fives with fellow Knicks fans after it was announced that Barrett will be heading to the Big Apple. Fans inside the Barclays Center also sounded very excited with the arrival of Barrett, who impressed during his lone season at Duke.

Barrett was often overshadowed by Williamson, who ended up as the top overall pick in the draft. But despite playing alongside a more celebrated college teammate, the Canadian rookie averaged 22.6 points ono top of 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

Barrett is considered by many as the best pure scorer in the draft, and was actually considered as the top prospect heading into college last year. Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski strongly believes that the 19-year-old will make a huge impact in New York.

“RJ will flourish here in New York,” Krzyzewski said via Adam Zagora of Forbes. “He wants to be here. He is so mature. He just turned 19 last Friday, but he's been a part of the Canadian basketball program since he was a little guy, always played up.”

It is also worth noting that Barrett appeared determined to start his career in New York. He was also in consideration for Memphis Grizzlies' second overall pick, but the former Blue Devil only worked out for the Knicks heading into the draft.
