A caller decided to declare that Carmelo Anthony is the one who can save the New York Knicks. Stephen A Smith ripped him apart.

On the Stephen A. Smith show, Smith was taking on calls, hoping to generate some discussion regarding the NBA free agency. Someone had the balls to call Smith to remind him that Carmelo Anthony is still a free agent and could very well save the Knicks. Smith had three words for him before ending the call. The Knicks have been tagged as the major losers of the summer. In the lottery pick, they were expected to get the number one overall but they fell to number three. As such, they failed to snag top prospect Zion Williamson in the NBA Draft. Though they still got RJ Barrett — who some people say has the better upside than Williamson — people can't help but feel pity towards the Knicks. This triggered the desperate Carmelo Anthony line of thought.

And on the first day of free agency, the Knicks were left practically empty-handed. To recall, they got rid of Kristaps Porzingis which gave them enough space for two max slots. Rumors revealed that they were gunning for Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. But as it turned out, it was their neighbors — the Brooklyn Nets — who got the two players.

The fan was probably reminiscing on the Carmelo Anthony era with the Knicks. After all, he did have a good stint with them as he guided the team to three playoff appearances. But Anthony isn't the same player that he once was — everything knows this for a fact. If there's someone who can save the Knicks, it definitely won't be Anthony — even if they sign him.
