Los Angeles Lakers forward Brandon Ingram is relieved to know the suspension for his role in Saturday's brawl with the Houston Rockets was a mere four games, noting it could have been much worse.

“It was better than we expected. I’m happy it was only four (games). I have to control my emotions better,” he said, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

The third-year swingman apologized to his teammates after his eventual ejection, but noted they have had his back as he did with them during the altercation. Ingram initially confronted James Harden after a missed layup, but the shoving escalated to point guards Rajon Rondo and Chris Paul exchanging barbs afterward.

As both players went at it, Ingram quickly jumped into the action, quickly sprinting to “rescue” Rondo and beating out Lonzo Ball and Lance Stephenson despite coming from behind.

“I was wrong for my teammates but I also stepped up for my teammates and that’s what I’m going to do 10 times out of 10,” said Ingram.

Kyle Kuzma will take over Ingram's starting spot during his absence while Lonzo Ball will fill in for Rondo, giving two young players a window of opportunity for more minutes and even a permanent starting gig for Ball, who is looking to regain his rightful spot in the rotation after missing time in the preseason due to recovering from knee surgery.

This will serve as a teaching moment for a young Ingram, who will take a slight pay cut for his actions, as he serves his suspension without pay through that four-game stretch.
