Jeff Schwartz, the agent for Los Angeles Lakers small forward Brandon Ingram, says his client is “in good spirits” and will make a full recovery from the blood clots which ended his 2018-19 season.

Ingram underwent successful thoracic outlet decompression surgery on his right arm on Saturday.

“This couldn't have been a better set of facts for a clot,” Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management told ESPN's Dave McMenamin. “It's a night and day difference between a hematological issue, or a blood issue however you want to put it, and a structural issue. This was not related to his blood producing something that would cause blood clots. This was purely structural.

“He's in good spirits and Brandon's going to make a full recovery.”

This is tremendous news.

It looks like Ingram is going to be able to continue his basketball career and avoid using blood thinners. Chris Bosh had to end his career because he was using blood thinners to treat his blood clots.

The NBA doesn't allow its players to play while using blood thinners.

Ingram averaged 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game for the Lakers this season while shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 33.0 percent from beyond the arc and 67.5 percent from the free-throw line.
