Denver Nuggets point guard Isaiah Thomas just called someone from the Ball family humble, and you bet he’s not referring to LaVar. Instead, Thomas reserved that compliment for Los Angeles Lakers guard and former teammate Lonzo Ball when he guested on Kevin Hart’s “Cold As Balls” show.

“Lonzo has a bright future and the dope thing about him is that he’s a humble kid.”

Lonzo Ball entered the league with an extreme amount of hype, thanks in large part to his father’s seemingly bottomless bravado, as LaVar peddled the former UCLA Bruins star like he’s the second coming of Michael Jordan. But after just a season in Lakers uniform, Lonzo has become one of the most polarizing players in the league.

Lonzo put up an admirable stat line for a rookie, as he averaged 10.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game last season but shot just 36.0 percent from the field and 30.5 percent from deep. He’s still only 20 years old, so there’s plenty of time for him to work on his shooting form.

Isaiah Thomas didn’t get the hype Lonzo had entering the league, as he was selected last in the 2011 NBA Draft. He turned out just fine, though, even becoming a two-time All-Star.

The Lakers are expecting greater things this coming season not only because Los Angeles is now LeBron James’ home, but also because they are anticipating the improvements of their youngsters like Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and Brandon Ingram.

While the Lakers are now LeBron’s team, Ball will continue to play a significant role for Los Angeles.
