After the Los Angeles Lakers' postseason was cut short by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2021 NBA playoffs, they are back to the drawing board. Forward Jared Dudley has even started recruiting his former teammate Dwight Howard. Dudley kicked off his campaign online by commenting on Dwight Howard's Instagram post.

Dwight Howard was a key piece of Los Angeles' 2020 championship squad. Howard gave the Lakers a formidable figure in the middle whenever Anthony Davis took a breather. He was also the team's enforcer as he drained the opposing centers' energy whenever he goes against them. During the 2020 playoffs, Howard gave Denver Nuggets center and superstar Nikola Jokic a hard time by playing physical defense against him. Howard got under the skin of the Serbian big man.

Offensively, Howard's role was way different than what he usually did during his prime. In Los Angeles, he played the role of a rim-running athletic big, who was a constant LeBron James alley-oop target. Dwight's LA story is all about redemption, as he redeemed himself after a failed stint in Hollywood that was mostly defined by his controversial clashes with Kobe Bryant.

Dwight Howard signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on a veteran's minimum contract after a miscommunication with the Lakers' front office during last year's offseason. Howard's presence was sorely missed by Los Angeles as Andre Drummond, a last-minute buyout pick up had an underwhelming run with the Lakers.

Could the Purple and Gold and Dwight Howard reunite for the third time?
