If the NBA only had a version of the NFL’s Hard Knocks, the Los Angeles Lakers would be the runaway choice to be the show’s focus this offseason. With LeBron James in town and a number of colorful characters alongside him set in the background of the bright lights of Hollywood, Jeanie Buss and the Lakers would have been perfect for that.

Speaking of Buss, she had a moneymaking Eureka moment, when she suggested that the Lakers’ first scrimmage should be open to the paying public, per Harrison Feigen of SB Nation.

“Our first scrimmage is going to be all the vets at all the young guys”- Luke Walton. Jeanie asked if she could sell tickets to that scrimmage.

That’s not a bad idea. That’s how entrepreneurs should think. However, it probably wouldn’t be a welcome idea to the players and coaches, since they probably prefer a more intimate environment for their first get-together in this offseason.

But again, there’s a market for that. Who wouldn’t want to see James and Lance Stephenson on the same team going up against Josh Hart and Brandon Ingram? How about a matchup between Michael Beasley and Kyle Kuzma?

Tickets are not going to be cheap for Lakers games in the regular season, so it might be a better idea to save up for those than spend it on Buss’ wild schemes.
