Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is the subject of ongoing trade rumors involving the Los Angeles Lakers, but the shooting guard is trying to focus on what's in front of him. For the time being, that means he's focusing on the Lakers.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is taking on a much lesser role this season, so his departure could make sense. Caldwell-Pope's minutes have taken a severe hit, and the best move for everyone may be to move him in a deal that brings back a veteran who can slot in as a spot-up shooter next to LeBron James.

But while the possibility of a trade involving Caldwell-Pope appears likely sometime in the future, he's playing well for L.A. as of late. In his last five games, the shooting guard is averaging 11.4 points per game on 41.4 percent shooting from deep. The Lakers are 4-1 in those games.

KCP is a capable defender as well, so it's hard to believe that the Lakers would want to trade him for a 3-and-D type of player. Regardless, a trade involving Caldwell-Pope still feels like the most likely end to his tenure in Hollywood.

But for now, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is saying and doing all the right things. He's trying to downplay the rumors and focus on the task in front of him. Not to mention, he doesn't seem to be letting the rumors distract him from helping the Lakers win. He may not be happy with his role, but he's definitely helping the Lakers be successful.
