On Thursday, the jury found Bill Cosby guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman 14 years ago. Despite the controversy surrounding Cosby, Kyle Kuzma of the Los Angeles Lakers opted to defend the actor via a tweet which has since been deleted.

In his Twitter account, Kuzma tweeted:

“Most of these yougins out here don't even know who HeathCliff Huxtable was.. Bill Cosby had one of the best shows of all time.”

Kuzma's insensitive tweet might've been a response to those who bashed Cosby amid the sexual allegations. He deleted it not long after. Maybe he realized that it was a big mistake to support Cosby.

The allegations surrounding the 80-year-old became public in 2014 and has gained more traction as of late due to the #MeToo movement. The incidents, which date back sometime in the 1960s, included rape, sexual misconduct, drug-facilitated sexual assault, and child sexual abuse.

As reported by Eric Levenson and Aaron Cooper of CNN, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said:

“What was revealed through this investigation was a man who had spent decades preying on women that he drugged and sexually assaulted, and a man who evaded this moment right here far too long,” Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele told reporters. “He used his celebrity, he used his wealth, he used his network of supporters to help him conceal his crimes.”

For their part, Cosby's lawyer, Tom Mesereau plans to appeal and said:

“We are very disappointed by the verdict. We don't think Mr. Cosby's guilty of anything and the fight is not over.”
