The clash between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans has major play-in implications on the line. That's why it's no surprise that things got a little heated in as early as the opening quarter. LeBron James was shoved hard by Pels center Jaxson Hayes as he made his way to the rim on a fastbreak play.

The Lakers star was knocked down to his knees as Hayes was slapped with a flagrant one infraction. Check out the testy play below:

Anthony Davis clearly took exception to the contact as he quickly ran up towards Hayes and gave him a piece of his mind for shoving his Lakers co-star.

The animosity might have been due to an earlier play where LeBron James was seen dealing a shot of his own to the Jaxson Hayes' midsection on a screen attempt. Hayes was seen visible wincing in pain after the collision.

With two games separating the clubs in the standings and the Lakers fighting just to make it, emotions are obviously running high in this one. These two teams could very well face off against one another when the dust settles, which could lead to more dust-ups like this one in the near future.
