It's safe to say that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is one of the biggest fans of Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders.

On Instagram, NFL Throwback posted several highlight plays from Sanders' career, showing the former Lions running back evading opponents on his way to touchdowns. After James saw it, he could help but react and heap praise on Sanders and what he was doing during his heyday.

James called Sanders the “greatest RB” he has ever seen, highlighting how he's still in awe of the Hall of Famer whenever he sees his highlights.

“The greatest RB I've ever seen in my life!!! Wow he was amazing to say the least,” the Lakers star wrote.

Barry Sanders indeed had a legendary career with the Lions, and it's easy to see where LeBron James is coming from. When talking about the best RBs the game has ever seen, it's impossible to have that discussion without the Detroit icon.

While Sanders never won a Super Bowl, his body of work still speaks volumes of his greatness. As we highlighted before, he just can't be tackled and established a reputation for speed, footwork and quickness.

As LeBron suggested, it's hard to find any RB who has been as dominant as Sanders since the 1990s. If he's playing today, he would certainly even be more fun to watch as he tries to evade opponents to the best of his abilities.

Unfortunately for fans like the Lakers superstar forward, all we can do now is look back at Sanders' incredible highlights and relive some of the best performances from an NFL running back.
