Days after winning his fourth NBA ring, LeBron James had a simple message for his good friend and late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

On Wednesday, the newly crowned four-time Finals MVP posted a heartfelt tribute for the Lakers icon after the dust settled from the Purple and Gold winning their 17th NBA title.

“Hope I made you proud my brother! Love and miss you champ!” James posted on his Instagram account.

The post also included a series of photos which featured LeBron's statement earlier this year after Kobe's tragic passing where he promised Kobe that he'll continue his legacy in LA.

And now that James has successfully brought back the Larry O'Brien back to Hollywood, it's safe to say that LeBron James was a man of his word.

It has been one heck of a year for NBA fans, especially for avid supporters of the Purple & Gold. 2020 opened with the catastrophic news of a fatal accident that caused Kobe, his daughter Gigi and seven other passengers their lives in a fateful January morning in Calabasas, California.

Nearly nine months later, sorrow has been transformed to jubilation as LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the rest of the Lakers finally brought home the crown 10 years after Kobe won his fifth and final ring.

Winning the 2020 NBA title was truly the best way to honor the late Kobe Bryant, and James made sure to do it with flying colors.

Rest easy, Kobe. The city is in safe hands now that ‘The King' has finally lit the torch again in LA.
