Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been vocal about the Breonna Taylor case for months now. Taylor was a 26-year-old Black woman who was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police Department officers in March.

On Sunday morning, the Kentucky State Police released a ballistics report that does not support the assertion of state Attorney General Daniel Cameron that Taylor’s boyfriend shot a Louisville police officer the night she was killed.

Shortly after the news broke, the Lakers forward reacted to it on his Twitter.

This comes after the news that no officers were charged for the death of Taylor. According to a Jefferson County judge, Sgt. Jon Mattingly and Det. Myles Cosgrove were “justified in their use of force,” therefore, they were not charged in the death of Taylor. One officer was indicted for wanton endangerment, but that had nothing to do with the death of Taylor.

“I’ve been lost for words today!” the Lakers superstar tweeted Wednesday. “I’m devastated, hurt, sad, mad! We want Justice for Breonna yet justice was met for her neighbors apartment walls and not her beautiful life. Was I surprised at the verdict. Absolutely not but damnit I was & still am hurt and heavy hearted! I send my love to Breonna mother, family and friends! I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!!”

Nevertheless, with the news of the ballistics report that was released on Sunday, there could be a possible trial or conviction in the Breonna Taylor case. If Taylor’s boyfriend didn't shoot at any officers that night, then there should be no reason why the officers fired shots.

It remains to be seen what will happen in the case, but LeBron James and the rest of the NBA are certainly hoping the latest development could change things.
