Not many would argue against the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers are currently having one of the most successful offseasons in the history of its franchise. As a matter of fact, in a recent survey conducted by the NBA, other general managers consider the Lakers to have the greatest potential this coming season due to their summer dealings.
In his piece for NBA.com, John Schumann detailed the results of the aforementioned survey, in which Los Angeles dominated the categories pertaining to their success during this offseason.
First off, GM's voted the Lakers as having made the best overall moves over the summer. The team got 70% of the votes, while the Toronto Raptors were a far second with merely 20% of the votes. The Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers, and the Oklahoma City Thunder also received votes in this category.
In terms of a single player that will have the biggest impact for his new team, LeBron James was the clear choice. He received a whopping 97% of votes, while the remaining 3% went to Kawhi Leonard of the Raptors.
Finally, when asked about their choice on which team they feel will see the biggest improvement this season, the Lakers were again the top choice. With the Lakers garnering 80% of the votes, the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns — both with only 7% of votes apiece — were tied at a very distant second.
These are GM's speaking here, so this survey does hold a lot of value. Hopefully for the Lakers faithful, the team is able to live up to all the hype surrounding their summer spree.
