The Los Angeles Lakers season certainly isn't one to remember. A campaign that had more downs than ups led to the team's demise as it missed its goal of returning to the playoffs.

With their season all but over at this point, the Purple and Gold are looking forward to next season. Simultaneously, they can also take time to reflect on the season that was.

One of the bright spots was Rajon Rondo. Head coach Luke Walton raved about his veteran point guard's leadership in a statement with Dave McMenamin of ESPN this past week.

“His leadership has been great.” Walton said. “He wants to play all the time. I think he sets a great example for the younger guys and he's watching film before every game, during games. Off days he's in the gym every day working on his craft, studying his opponent. … It's great to have that around when you have as many young guys with their eyes on everything, learning from everything.”

Despite the horror that has clouded Hollywood for the most part of the season, Rondo has served as a great example for the team's young, up-and-coming studs. LeBron James also praised Rondo this past week, saying that the leadership and energy he brings to the team is invaluable.

Rondo, who missed nearly a third of this season, feels like he has unfinished business in Los Angeles. The 33-year old pass-first point guard has stated that he hopes the Lakers will retain his services next season.

He may not be the perfect fit next to LeBron, but he has proven his worth as a veteran leader alongside the three-time NBA champion.
