There has been a lot of speculations about the Los Angeles Lakers potentially firing head coach Luke Walton after the team failed to make it to the playoffs. One of the rumored front-runners to replace him is former Milwaukee Bucks coach Jason Kidd, which was initially reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

However, Stephen A. Smith, another ESPN analyst and insider claims that there's a different coach that will get strong considerations from the Lakers, and that's Tyronn Lue.

“Jason Kidd, according to our very own Adrian Wojnarowski… will be strongly considered to be the next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. I am here to tell you that I have been told it's not gonna happen,” Smith said.

“I'm just telling you that the Lakers made a point to give word to me this morning; Jason Kidd is not an option. Brooklyn Nets, ultimately the Milwaukee Bucks, they didn't think he [Kidd] would be the right fit for them. They [Lakers] believe that Ty Lue warrants strong consideration. The former coach in Cleveland, who took the Cavaliers to three championship series, who won a championship in Cleveland as the coach of the Cavaliers, after being down 3-1, who repeatedly made adjustments from the regular season to the postseason, who once won 22 straight playoff games if I remember correctly. Here's the deal, Tye Lue is proven. LeBron respects the hell out of him, wouldn't mind him being the next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. These are all true things.”

While Wojnarowski rarely makes mistakes because of the sources he has all over the league, Stephen A. Smith has some sources of his own. And even if nobody told him that Tyronn Lue will be a candidate to be the next head coach of the Lakers, Ty should still be highly considered because of the success he had in Cleveland.

The Lakers are expected to make decisions regarding their coaching staff in the offseason, during which they will have plenty of time.
