The Los Angeles Lakers are in the mix to sign point guard Trey Burke, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Burke is an unrestricted free agent. He split time this past season with the New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks:

The Lakers still don't have a starting point guard after trading Lonzo Ball to the New Orleans Pelicans in the Anthony Davis deal. Los Angeles can still bring back veteran guard Rajon Rondo, who has a strong rapport with Davis. Rondo and AD played one season together on the Pelicans.

Trey Burke began his NBA career with the Utah Jazz in 2013. He was the ninth overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft out of the University of Michigan. The 26-year-old has played for the Jazz, Washington Wizards, Knicks and Mavs. He has career averages of 10.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 361 games while shooting 40.8 percent from the field, 34.0 percent from beyond the arc and 80.0 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers are waiting to see if two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard will join them. Burke made only $1,795,015 this past season with the Knicks and Mavs, so LA won't have to go deep into their pockets if they decide to sign the guard.
