The Los Angeles Lakers, a rather storied NBA franchise, may have had their Showtime jersey designs accidentally leaked to the public over the weekend.

While this is a bit of detective work, leading to conjecture, a slew of social media private eyes spotted something odd since LeBron James signed with the Lakers recently. Over at Fanatics (dot com), there were pictures of The King donning a Los Angeles uniform, but it was unlike any currently worn by members of the team. Of note: Those pictures are currently gone the way of the dinosaurs.

For whatever it is worth, Nike had already announced their plans to unveil the Lakers redesigned uniforms on July 30. So — again, connecting the dots a bit — maybe there's some merit to this entire situation.

Nevertheless, Conrad Burry of Sportslogos.net made a mock design of what the jerseys might look like given all the information provided by the Twitter detectives and Fanatics' posting.

The idea that people are calling these the “Showtime” design happens to be the fact that they apparently draw heavy influence from the Purple and Gold's dominance of yesteryear — a place in space and time when Magic Johnson was dropping dimes to awesome teammates instead of wheeling and dealing in the front office.

Bluntly: This is purely speculation and somewhat educated guessing. This isn't a for-sure design the team will be rolling with.

Anyway, if they are real, do you guys like them?
