Arike Ogunbowale, who hit the game-winning shot to win the NCAA championship for the Notre Dame women's team was surprised by none other than his idol and basketball legend Kobe Bryant. The Los Angeles Lakers great also brought a few gifts for her.

Ogunbowale was recently at The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about how she seemingly became a celebrity overnight. Before hitting the game-winning shot, she explained that nobody would really notice her whenever she walks down the hallways of her school. But after they won, random people from their school started greeting her, asking for pictures and autographs.

Ellen, who has a penchant for surprising her guests, was aware that Kobe is Arike's hero. So she did what she had to do: she hid Kobe backstage up until the right moment came to surprise her. Below is the video:

As seen in the clip, Bryant brought Arike some gifts: an autographed jersey for her and another autographed jersey for her dog aptly named Kobe.

The game-winner, was in fact, her second game-winning shot in the tournament. Her first was in the Final Four against UConn in overtime.

Bryant even congratulated her via Twitter:

As reported by Graham Hays of ESPN, Arike was in disbelief for hitting two big shots in consecutive games:

“To do that twice in one weekend, the biggest stage in college basketball, it's crazy,” Ogunbowale admitted.

“I was missing a lot of bunnies with the layups, it was a little frustrating,” Ogunbowale said. “But I knew I had to keep shooting, keep going to the basket. My teammates, they tell me to keep shooting, but I think that's just my mentality. I'm never going to stop.”

Indeed, Mamba Mentality is deeply embedded in Ogunbowale's veins. To top it all off, a special two-on-two game was also played with Ice Cube involved.
