The Detroit Lions have a couple of big-time injuries to keep an eye on leading up to kickoff against the Kansas City Chiefs. Both quarterback Matthew Stafford and cornerback Darius Slay have been battling injuries this week. We have a bit more clarity on one of those injuries.

According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, Stafford is likely to play against the Chiefs. Unfortunately, he does not have that news for Slay just yet. Slay is still listed as a game-time decision for the big game.

Detroit will need both of these guys in order to compete with the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes is without question the best quarterback in the league right now and Slay is one of the best cornerbacks in the league. If he is unable to play, Mahomes is going to have an even bigger game than he normally would.

Thankfully, Stafford will not be forced out of this Week 4 showdown. Detroit enters this week with a 2-0-1 record and are looking to make a major statement if they can pull off the shocking win over Kansas City.

While the Lions are viewed as major underdogs this week, they seem to be embracing that role. Crazier things have happened in the past.

Make sure to tune in to today's matchup between the Lions and Chiefs at 1:00 p.m. EST on Fox. Stafford and Mahomes should have a fairly big shootout on their hands and hopefully for Detroit, Slay will be able to give it a go when everything is said and done.
