The Detriot Lions are looking to grab their second straight win this season to push back toward the .500 mark with a Week 7 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. However, the Lions will have to venture into that matchup without the services of defensive end Ziggy Ansah as he has been downgraded to out for the contest, according to Tim Twentyman of Detroitlions.com.

Ansah has been limited throughout the week with a shoulder injury in practice. He has only taken the field for the season opener against the New York Jets and has missed each of the last five games, due to the ailment that hasn't allowed for him to take the field since then. Ansah has four total tackles and a sack that he recorded against the Jets this season. He has continued to make progress, but there isn't any clarity as to when he will be able to make his return this year. The Dolphins are gaining steam, so having Ansah would be a huge help to the Lions, who are 2-3 on the season.

The Lions had placed the franchise tag worth $17.1 million on Ansah for the 2018 season and were unable to work out a long-term extension prior the deadline in mid-July. The hope was that he was going to be able to prove his worth while play at an elite level this year but he has been unable to do so with his inability to get past his shoulder ailment.

The injury bug has been something that has ailed him in the last two seasons missing five games in the two previous years that have seen him last play an entire season back in the 2015 campaign. He has recorded a pair of double-digit sack campaigns twice in the last three years while racking up 44.0 for his career prior to this season. He had also finished t 2017 season tied for eighth in the league with 12.0 sacks with 44 total tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in 14 games. Ultimately, this is a situation that the Lions will continue to monitor moving forward.
