The Texas Longhorns landed a massive commitment from budding star and quarterback Arch Manning, the nephew of ex-NFL stars Eli and Payton Manning. Since that point, recruits have continued to pile in for the Longhorns, as they're building a legitimate college football powerhouse for the future. That trend continued on Wednesday, as Texas landed five-star wideout Johntay Cook.

Cook explained why he chose the Longhorns over other top schools, such as Oregon and Michigan. Here's what Cook had to say, per 247 Sports.

“Honestly, I'm ready to come home,” Cook said. “It's just the right fit for me. I couldn't go wrong. Coach Sark is an offensive genius. Texas has been loving me since day one. Since the new staff got in there, it's been constant love. As soon as coach Marion got in there, it was like I've known him for two years. It's the best situation for me. With Arch Manning, nobody is going to be able to fool with me and him. Freshman year I'll have Quinn Ewers, so I'm arguably going to have the best two quarterbacks in college football.”

As Cook said, he's ready to go home. The five-star receiver is a native of DeSoto, Texas, so he won't have to go far to join the Longhorns.

Not only that but Cook loved the idea of playing with Arch Manning. He said that “no one is going to be able to fool with me and him.” Cook and Manning have developed a friendship in the last year, so chemistry shouldn't be a problem for the two.

The talented wideout, who caught 19 touchdowns on just 39 catches, will add to the star power the Longhorns are bringing in.
