One of Louisville Cardinals basketball program’s prized recruit this year, Brian Bowen, has been suspended from all athletic-related activities in the school. This is being reported by Justin Sayers and Darcy Costello of The Courier-Journal. That said, Bowen is still free to roam the campus and he could still see his name listed on the Cardinals’ official basketball team roster.

Bowen is not allowed to work out or practice with the team, according to university spokesman John Karman. He is still enrolled at the school, as of Friday morning, Karman said. He is still listed on the school's official men's basketball roster.

The identity of the Louisville player and his family who have allegedly received $100,000 in exchange for a commitment to endorse Adidas in the future has yet to be categorically determined by school officials but details from an FBI probe have aligned exactly towards Bowen’s direction.

It has been suggested for well over a week, without there being any official word, that Brian Bowen would be suspended.

Bowen’s mother has earlier denied the accusations, copying Rick Pitino’s script and claiming ignorance of any under-the-table transactions involving her family.

This recruiting scandal currently gripping college basketball has already resulted in the firing of both Cardinals athletic director Tom Jurich and Pitino. Rick Pitino’s former assistant, David Padgett has been named as the program’s interim head coach, while Jurich’s replacement is expected to be named Monday.

Rick Pitino has since said he plans to lay low, while still claiming innocence, and also believes he will one day be vindicated.
